UILDM is an association dedicated to neuromuscular diseases and other similar conditions. The organization’s goal is to provide support, such as physiotherapy and psychotherapy, to people with disabilities and their families. The aim of this content was to emphasize the idea of self-acceptance and to openly show the challenges that a disability can bring, without shame.
The idea
The oriental art of kintsugi consists of repairing cracks in pottery with gold leaf, thus emphasizing the fragments and breaks, making them appear more experienced and valuable.
During the brainstorming phase, I realized that the art of kintsugi has many similarities with the mindset one can adopt when living with a disability. In the video, I present various objects, such as vases and statues, that are perfectly intact but rather ordinary. Later, I showcase marble and porcelain pieces repaired with gold, highlighting their beauty and uniqueness. The message is: “Embrace your broken side and show the world your golden cracks.”
Crafting
For this video, I used various generative AI. First, I used MidJourney to create the base images, which I then enhanced using the Adobe suite.
With Runway, I animated the images. Finally, I refined and edited everything in post-production using After Effects.
