BIG – brief in Genova festival 2026

The brief

BIG – Brief in Genova is a festival dedicated to communication, design, and creativity, held annually at Villa Bombrini in Genoa. For the 2026 edition, the theme was “Tanto vale giocare (Might as Well Play)”, an invitation to embrace mistakes as part of the creative process and to find the motivation to keep trying, even after failure. The challenge was to create a visual identity capable of translating this sense of optimism, experimentation, and resilience into a cohesive communication system.

The solution

The visual identity is built around the concept of cracks, tears, and fractures. These elements can be read in opposite ways: as moments of separation or as opportunities for connection and recomposition. Game-related objects (dice, puzzles, chess pieces, and controllers) are split in two, becoming visual metaphors for failure, change, and new beginnings.

This concept is combined with a vibrant visual language inspired by dreamcore aesthetics, featuring saturated colors, soft shapes, and surreal textures. The result is a playful and optimistic identity system that celebrates experimentation and the value of trying again
